The most important international event for the young Motocross riders, MX Master Kids was held in Commercy (France) this year.
Gerard was better prepared than last year's. His experience in the 50cc category (6 to 8 years old) was much higher than last season.
The race consisted of 3 rounds of classification to decide which final will run each rider. In the initiation category there were 69 riders and 30 of them would fight to be in the Gold final, while others would play the Silver final as a consolation.
During the classification sessions Gerard finished 4th in the first round, 3rd in the second one and 4th in the latter. He was the fastest one even with multiple falls (two falls per round), but the team was happy because the victory was not impossible.
On Sunday the last day Gerard was a little bit worried and tense due to falls of the day before so the team decided to rest till the race as a precaution.
At the beginning of the race there was high tension among drivers and also among parents, managers and mechanics. Gerard did not make a good race start and a fall dropped him to 24th place at the end of the first lap. After that Gerard got rid of the pressure and began to improve lap after lap and managed to finish the race in 6th position. A result as good as bitter, during the training rounds the team thought the victory was really and at least they expected to finish on the podium, but considering that there were the best drivers in Europe (English, French, Austrian, Lithuanian, German, Dutch, etc.) and even some American riders, and Gerard being one of the youngest (only 6 years old), it was a great race.
As always the young Santa Cristina driver tries to improve and mature race after race to increase their level, so…
